Pedals Servicing pedals: Most pedals have
either a plastic cap or an allen key on the outside of the pedal. This is easy
enough to remove, when you have this off it is just a case of shooting lube into
the recess or filling with grease. If you want to be more thorough though you
can unscrew the bolt inside to get at the axle and the rest of the bearings. Only
strip your pedals if you do not mind them spinning round a hell of a lot when
your foot slips off. Buying pedals: It all depends on what you are doing, if you
are doing XC we would recommend SPDs, for downhill it is down to personal choice
if you feel comfortable with SPDs then use them, but if conditions mean that you
will be taking your foot off a lot then 'flatties' are usually the best option.
Something like box or cage (platforms). They are also best for messing about (trails,
trials, jumping and everything else).
