Chain: Don't buy a cheap one, make sure the one you buy is compatible with the rest of your groupset. You can either run your chain wet or dry. Wet is where you drown it in lube, this stops any corrosion, rust and prevents snapping. But the lube will pick up a lot of crap off the trails and you will have to clean it off regularly. Running it dry just involves leaving it, this sometimes makes it smoother for longer and stops any crap sticking to it. But it will be prone to rusting and snapping if you leave it to tight. To decide how long your chain should be so is the correct tension put it round the largest front cog and the largest rear cog (not including mech.) and add 2 links. To adjust your chain you need a chain tool, and brute strength (it is a good tip to clamp a monkey wrench/ adjustable spanner onto the handles of the tool to give you extra leverage.) Put the chain back together using something like a "Sigma Link" or master link for about £1.50 these allow you to further adjust your chain and reduce the strength comprise re_joining a chain does.

Sigma Link instructions in English*!!
Start by breaking your chain as normal eather using a chain tool or by riding up a hill in 24th.When you have taken any links out of your chain that you feel it is necessary to (you can usually remove about 4) join the chain with the side of the sigma link with the pins on, so the pins point towards you. Then, probably, with a freinds help curve the chain away from you and snap one end of the link on and pull it so it clips into place in the norrower side of the hole. using you thumbs now push the link together and it should click in relitavly easly otherwise try pulling and pushing.when it clicks in double and triple cheak its on and has clicked at both ends.
