Brakes: Not only do these help you slow down
they also help you go faster! V-brakes: V-brakes are the most common type of brake
and are simple to install and maintain. If you are putting V-brakes on instead
of cantilevers you must have a V-brake (linear pull) lever as cantilever levers
don't pull enough. Don't forget to change your pads when they reach their "wear
line". To stop your brakes from squeaking you must toe in your pads. Tune in your
pads so the leading edge of the pad reaches the rim first. When installing V-Brakes
on to Downhill rims especially LX and XT types you will probably have to remove
the spacer from behind the pad to the other side of the mounting to prevent your
breaks from sticking out too much and the springs being lose.
